Fidelity Bank Takes Women Empowerment Drive to Ikorodu

Fidelity Bank Plc has extended its flagship women empowerment programme, “Give Her Power,” to Ikorodu in Lagos, providing vocational tools to over 30 women to support their businesses and boost household income.

The outreach, which marks the third phase of the initiative’s nationwide rollout, saw beneficiaries from Ikorodu Central, Ikorodu West, and Ikorodu North Local Government Areas receive items including sewing and grinding machines.

Speaking at the event, the bank’s Regional Bank Head, Victoria Island, Nnamdi Edekobi, representing Managing Director and CEO Nneka Onyeali-Ikpe, said the initiative is focused on sustainable empowerment rather than symbolic gestures.

He noted that the programme is designed to equip women with practical tools to build viable businesses, generate income, and improve their livelihoods.

Also speaking, Divisional Head, Brand and Communication, Meksley Nwagboh, described the Ikorodu activation as a targeted intervention aimed at underserved women at the grassroots.

He added that the initiative would be expanded to other regions, including the South-East, South-South, and Northern Nigeria.

The “Give Her Power” initiative is anchored on the bank’s HerFidelity Apprenticeship Programme, which provides vocational training, mentorship, and business support.

It was initially launched in Lagos in partnership with organisations such as Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing and the National Credit Guarantee Company, among others.

Prior to the Ikorodu event, the programme was held in Abeokuta, where 100 women received empowerment tools at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena.

The Ikorodu outreach attracted key stakeholders, including the Chairman of Ikorodu Local Government, Adedayo Ladega, alongside other council leaders.

One of the beneficiaries, Hassan Bukola, expressed appreciation, describing the support as life-changing and crucial to the growth of her business.

Fidelity Bank said it will continue to scale the initiative nationwide as part of efforts to drive women’s economic empowerment and sustainable community development.
