NLNG Advances Media Excellence with Change Your Story Workshop in Lagos

Nigeria LNG Limited (NLNG) has reinforced its commitment to strengthening journalism in Nigeria following the successful completion of the second edition of its #NLNGChangeYourStory workshop for 2026, held in Lagos.

The workshop brought together 40 journalists from various media organisations to explore the rapidly evolving landscape of journalism, particularly the growing influence of artificial intelligence and digital communication on news production and distribution.

Participants engaged in discussions on how emerging media technologies can support real-time reporting, expand audience reach across borders, and deepen engagement with readers and viewers on digital platforms.

Speaking at the event, the General Manager, External Relations and Sustainable Development at NLNG, Sophia Horsfall, said the initiative forms part of the company’s broader efforts to strengthen engagement with the media while promoting professional excellence in journalism.

According to her, the programme reflects NLNG’s belief that credible and well-informed reporting plays a crucial role in shaping public understanding of critical sectors such as energy, economic development, and sustainability.

Horsfall encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the workshop to improve the depth, quality, and credibility of their reports.

“We provide the energy that powers nations and generates revenue for our country, while the media provides the information that powers minds,” she said, urging participants to translate the lessons from the workshop into higher standards in their future reports, broadcasts, and investigative stories.

The training featured a mix of expert-led discussions and practical learning sessions. Digital communication specialist Dan Mason facilitated sessions on digital storytelling, while veteran journalist Taiwo Obe conducted a hands-on Journalism Clinic.

The sessions equipped participants with practical skills in areas such as data visualisation, online verification, audience engagement, and building a strong digital presence.

Through the initiative, NLNG reiterated its commitment to promoting journalistic excellence and supporting the media industry’s ongoing digital transformation.
