Fidelity Bank Distributes Food Packs to Over 1,500 Residents in Lagos

Leading financial institution, Fidelity Bank Plc, has extended its Fidelity Food Bank initiative to Surulere, Lagos, distributing food packs to more than 1,500 residents as part of efforts to support vulnerable communities and tackle hunger.

The outreach programme was carried out in collaboration with the Office of the Personal Assistant to the President on Constituency Affairs and the Sodiq Abiodun Ogundare (SAO) Foundation.

Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Regional Bank Head, Victoria Island/Lekki, Fidelity Bank Plc, Nnamdi Edekobi, represented by the Branch Leader of Adeola Odeku Branch, Ifeyinwa Asomugha, said the initiative underscored the bank’s commitment to improving the wellbeing of its host communities.

According to him, the programme goes beyond food distribution, focusing on uplifting lives, creating opportunities, and strengthening support for families facing economic challenges.

He disclosed that since its inception, the Fidelity Food Bank initiative has distributed over 150,000 food packs across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones, impacting hundreds of communities nationwide.

Edekobi noted that the Surulere outreach would provide beneficiaries with essential food supplies to help address hunger and promote healthy living, adding that the initiative aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 2 on Zero Hunger.

He also commended the Personal Assistant to the President on Constituency Affairs, Hon. Khadijat Kareem Omotayo, for supporting the initiative and fostering partnerships aimed at improving the lives of underserved Nigerians.

Speaking at the event, Hon. Omotayo praised Fidelity Bank and the SAO Foundation for bringing relief and support to residents of Surulere Constituency I.

She expressed appreciation for the collaboration, describing it as a significant opportunity for members of the constituency, while expressing optimism for future partnerships that would continue to improve livelihoods.

The bank’s food intervention programme recently earned recognition after Fidelity Bank was named CSR Champion of the Year at the 2025 Independent Newspaper Awards for its Food Bank initiative.

The Surulere outreach attracted community leaders, residents, and development partners, many of whom described the intervention as timely amid prevailing economic difficulties.

Fidelity Bank Plc currently serves over 10 million customers through its digital banking platforms, 255 business offices across Nigeria, and its United Kingdom subsidiary, FidBank UK Limited.

The bank has also received several local and international recognitions for digital transformation, SME banking, and investment banking services.
