A former Nigeria international goalkeeper and an assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Joseph Eric otherwise known as Joe Erico is no more.

Erico as a coach was an apostle of the Brazilian brand of football popularly known as ‘Jogo Bonito’ as he tutored Julius Berger FC to play this brand of football in the domestic league in the early 1990s to the delight of many fans of the club.
He is the third member of the technical crew that guided Nigeria to qualify for 2002 World Cup and the Mali 2002 Africa Cup of Nations to have passed on. The other two coaches, Stephen Keshi and Amodu Shaibu, died two days apart in 2016.
