President Muhammadu Buhari has asked Nigerians to go back to agriculture owing to the current uncertainties in the oil industry which the country which has been the cash cow for the country.
In a statement signed by the Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, the President directed the apex bank not to give out money for food import into the country noting that about seven states are already producing all the rice the country needed.

“We must eat what we produce, going back to the land is the way out, we depended on petrol at the expense of agriculture and now the oil industry is in turmoil as we are being squeezed to produce at 1.5 million barrels a day as against a capacity to produce 2.3 million.” The statement quotes president Buhari.
“We are back to the land now and we must not lose the opportunity to make life easier for our people. Imagine what would have happened if we didn’t encourage agriculture and closed the borders. We would have been in trouble.” The statement read.
