Change of Guard: Michael Ugbagu Assumes Duty as Comptroller of Federal Operations Unit Zone ‘C’

The Nigeria Customs Service’s Federal Operations Unit Zone C (FOUC) in Owerri has welcomed a new Comptroller, Michael Ugbagu, who has officially taken on the role as the 28th Comptroller of the unit.

Comptroller Ugbagu assumed office in a simple ceremony in Owerri on Friday, succeeding Comptroller Kayode Kolade.

Expressing his gratitude, Comptroller Ugbagu thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the entire management team for entrusting him with the responsibility of leading the Unit.

He also commended his predecessor, Comptroller Kolade, for his outstanding achievements and pledged to continue following established guidelines in his duties.

“We will prioritize compliance with current import and export regulations by utilizing intelligence and technology in our operations,” stated Ugbagu.

He emphasized the importance of tight security measures to combat smuggling activities in the zone, aiming to discourage and frustrate smugglers while making smuggling, duty evasion, and warehousing of smuggled goods unattractive within the zone.

Acknowledging the weight of his new role, Ugbagu assured, “This is a significant responsibility, and I am committed to upholding the standards of the Service.”

Ugbagu also called for support and cooperation from the media and the general public to facilitate his successful execution of his new duties.
