The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) Apapa Area Command collected ₦28.10 billion in revenue within 24 hours on Tuesday, 18 August 2026 — the highest single-day figure ever recorded by the Command.
In a statement, Chief Superintendent of Customs Isah Sulaiman, Customs Public Relations Officer of the Apapa Area Command, said the amount surpassed the previous daily record of ₦20.10 billion set in September 2025, shortly after Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba assumed office as Customs Area Controller.
The milestone follows the Command’s unprecedented monthly collection of ₦323 billion in July 2026. Officials attribute the sustained performance to ongoing reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven operations and more efficient digital processes.
Comptroller Oshoba emphasised that the achievement extends beyond numerical records. “Revenue generated by the Service forms part of government resources used to fund public priorities, including infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and other services that ultimately impact the lives of ordinary Nigerians,” he stated.
He dedicated the record to the government and people of Nigeria, while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, and the Service’s management for their continued support of modernisation, automation and reforms aimed at making Customs operations more efficient, transparent and business-friendly.
Oshoba also acknowledged the contributions of compliant importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders, as well as citizens who provided actionable intelligence. He stressed that every compliant transaction contributes to national development and urged continued support for legitimate trade.
Addressing officers of the Command, the Customs Area Controller cautioned against complacency. He directed personnel to balance revenue collection with trade facilitation, professionalism and transparency, and to resolve legitimate disputes promptly so that Customs procedures do not unnecessarily hinder lawful businesses.
The Apapa Area Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the momentum through enhanced revenue generation, trade facilitation and stakeholder collaboration.
