Mondelēz International has appointed Ayman Fahmy as its new Managing Director for West Africa, effective May 15, 2026.
The company said Fahmy will oversee business operations and drive market expansion across the West African region. He will also lead Cadbury Nigeria Plc, the company’s listed Nigerian subsidiary.
Mondelēz International, known for brands such as Cadbury, OREO, Bournvita, and Halls, said its Nigerian operations manufacture flagship local products including Cadbury Bournvita, Cadbury 3-in-1 Hot Chocolate Drink, TomTom, and Buttermint.
The company also announced that Folake Ogundipe, who had served as interim Managing Director, will return to her substantive position as Financial Director of the Nigeria business.
Fahmy brings more than 25 years of experience in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector, with extensive leadership roles across Africa and the Middle East.
Before joining Mondelēz International, he served as General Manager at Shan Foods, where he led operations across the Middle East, Levant, and Africa regions.
He also previously worked at Reckitt Benckiser as General Manager for the Gulf Cooperation Council, Levant, Southern and Central Africa markets, where he reportedly drove significant business growth through route-to-market reforms, distributor expansion, and long-term retailer partnerships.
President, Sub-Saharan Africa at Mondelēz International, Hisham Ezz El-Arab, described Fahmy as a seasoned executive with strong operational and commercial expertise.
“Ayman brings the operational depth and commercial rigour we need to strengthen our route-to-market capabilities and engage more consumers with our products across West Africa,” he said.
According to the company, Fahmy previously held senior leadership roles at Procter & Gamble, where he rose to the position of Commercial Vice President for Nigeria and later managed operations across the Arabian Peninsula and Pakistan.
Mondelēz said Fahmy has built a reputation for transforming distribution systems, strengthening organisational culture, and expanding businesses across multiple markets in Africa, the Middle East, and Asia.
The new West Africa Managing Director holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from The American University in Cairo and completed the International Baccalaureate programme at the United Nations International School, New York.

The company said the appointment underscores its commitment to strengthening its presence and leadership across key markets in Sub-Saharan Africa.
