The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has acknowledged the Quality of Service (QoS) challenges affecting telecommunications subscribers in Abuja.
In a statement, NCC noted that the disruptions, caused by diesel supply issues impacting IHS Nigeria Limited, the colocation provider for Airtel and MTN base stations, have resulted in telecommunications services outages in the city.
“The NCC is collaborating with major stakeholders and licensees to address the challenges, which were triggered by the activities of the National Oil and Gas Suppliers Association (NOGASA) disrupting diesel supplies to critical telecommunications infrastructure.” The statement read.
The Commission restated its committment to ensuring seamless communication services for all Nigerians and recognizes the importance of reliable power supply for optimal telecommunication services.
The NCC urges all parties to work together to resolve the diesel supply bottlenecks affecting telecommunications infrastructure.
According to the Commission, proactive steps are being taken to facilitate dialogues between impacted service providers and stakeholders to promptly address the issue.
The NCC emphasised its dedication to effectively manage the situation and keep the public updated on progress towards restoring full telecommunication services in Abuja.
The Commission thanks subscribers for their understanding and patience during this period and reaffirms its commitment to delivering high-quality telecommunications services nationwide.
