The Kebbi State Government has officially handed over ten hectares of land to the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) for the establishment of the Agricultural Machinery Development Institute (AMEDI).
This move aligns with the Federal Government’s directive for each of the six geopolitical zones in the country to host an AMEDI.
The document for the 10-hectare land, located along Birnin Kebbi-Argungu road, was presented to the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of NASENI, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, by the Permanent Secretary of Kebbi State Cabinet Office, Alhaji Dahiru Zaki.
Accompanied by a delegation of Kebbi State Government officials, including representatives from the Ministry of Lands and Housing, Ministry of Agriculture, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, the Permanent Secretary expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for selecting Kebbi State as the site for the new AMEDI.
The land documents were handed over at the proposed institute’s permanent site, with NASENI’s Director of Procurement, Dr. Mohammed Mohammed, receiving them on behalf of the EVC/CEO of the Agency.
Zaki emphasized that Kebbi State’s agricultural prowess, particularly in rice production and other cash crops, influenced the decision to establish AMEDI in the state.
Dr. Mohammed, speaking on behalf of the EVC/CEO of NASENI, thanked Governor Nasir Idris for providing the strategic land along Airport road in Birnin Kebbi for the institute’s construction.
He assured that the project would kick off promptly, as all necessary preparations have been made.
