The Women’s International Shipping and Trading Association (WISTA) Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the effective implementation of the National Policy on Marine and Blue Economy.
The pledge was made by WISTA Nigeria’s President, Dr. Odunayo Ani, during a stakeholder engagement convened by the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy in Lagos.
Dr. Ani described the policy as “both timely and visionary,” reflecting the Federal Government’s resolve to drive sustainable ocean governance, job creation, economic diversification, and environmental stewardship.
She commended the Ministry for creating an inclusive platform that brings together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, academia, and civil society.
Dr. Ani emphasized WISTA Nigeria’s commitment to inclusivity, gender equity, innovation, and capacity building within the marine and blue economy space.
She also lauded the Ministry’s recognition of women’s vital role in maritime development, saying, “WISTA Nigeria stands ready to support this agenda through advocacy, training, and strategic partnerships.”
Dr. Ani assured the Honourable Minister and all stakeholders of WISTA Nigeria’s continued collaboration toward unlocking the full potential of Nigeria’s blue economy for national prosperity and future generations.
The association’s pledge of support underscores its commitment to driving sustainable development and economic growth in the maritime sector.
