Unity Bank, AfriGo Collaborate to Enhance E-Payment Solutions

Unity Bank Plc has partnered with domestic card scheme provider, AfriGo, to boost card usage across its retail customer segments.

The collaboration aims to advance electronic payment adoption and financial inclusion in Nigeria.

During a high-level strategic business engagement, Unity Bank’s Managing Director/CEO, Ebenezer Kolawole, stated that the bank is committed to making the AfriGo Card a primary delivery channel.

He pledged the bank’s continued support for the adoption of AfriGo cards across its network and urged AfriGo to intensify awareness campaigns to drive greater market acceptability.

The Managing Director of AfriGo, Ebehijie Momoh, commended Unity Bank for its support, noting that the bank ranks among the top five adopters of the AfriGo card.

He highlighted the growing impact of AfriGo in expanding financial inclusion and improving access to electronic payments, citing innovations such as instant payments and offline capabilities.

The collaboration underscores Unity Bank’s commitment to digital innovation and financial inclusion through homegrown technology.

The bank has introduced several digital solutions, including USSD banking in local languages, Unifi, a youth-focused digital banking platform, and GenFi, a gamified mobile banking solution for children and teenagers.

Momoh expressed optimism about the potential of Unity Bank’s extensive retail network to drive deeper collaboration aimed at enhancing e-banking penetration nationwide.

The partnership is expected to boost contactless payment adoption and improve convenience for cardholders.
