By Barnabas Esiet.

Union Bank of Nigeria has once again emphasized its dedication to promoting a society that is inclusive, equitable, and free from biases, stereotypes, and discrimination.

This commitment was highlighted during a special event organized by the Bank to commemorate International Women’s Day 2024, aligning with the global theme #InspireInclusion.

Dubbed “Ability Over Gender,” the event served as a platform for Union Bank to showcase its unwavering support for gender inclusivity and the advancement of female excellence and competence across various sectors.

The occasion featured a keynote address by the Bank’s new CEO, Yetunde Oni, who reiterated the institution’s pledge to champion the progress of women and other marginalized communities.

Oni emphasized the importance of inclusivity and the need to acknowledge and empower women in traditionally exclusive spaces.

A panel discussion, moderated by Chioma Nwokike, Head of Retail Segments and αlpher, followed the keynote address.

The panelists, including Chinasa Collins-Ogbuo, Dr. Zahra Modibbo, Olajumoke Daramola, and Esohe Adetola, shared valuable insights on changing the narrative around inclusion and creating an environment that enables women to thrive and excel under the theme ‘Because She Can’.

In a statement on the sidelines of the event, Olufunmilola Aluko, Chief Brand & Marketing Officer at Union Bank, expressed the Bank’s advocacy for equal representation and recognition of women’s skills and abilities in all industries.

She emphasized the importance of evaluating individuals based on their capabilities rather than their gender, in line with this year’s theme of striving for a fair and equitable world.

Union Bank remains committed to promoting inclusivity, female empowerment, and diversity, paving the way for a more equal and inclusive society for all.
