Dr. Bashir Jamoh, the outgoing Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), has officially handed over the leadership of the Agency to Chudi Offodile, who currently serves as the Agency’s Executive Director of Finance and Administration. This transition comes as Jamoh’s tenure came to an end on March 10, 2024.
At the handover ceremony held at NIMASA Towers in Victoria Island, Dr. Jamoh expressed his appreciation to the Federal Government for the opportunity to lead the Agency. He encouraged the incoming leadership to continue the progress achieved during his four-year tenure.
“I am thankful to Almighty Allah and the Federal Government for entrusting me with the responsibility to serve Nigeria in this capacity. It has been an honor to contribute to the Nigerian maritime sector during my time as Director General,” remarked Jamoh.
He assured the NIMASA staff that he will always consider himself a part of the NIMASA family, even as he moves on. Dr. Jamoh commended the staff for their professionalism and cooperation in fulfilling the Agency’s mandate, urging them to maintain their excellent work under the new leadership.
In response, Offodile expressed his gratitude to Jamoh for his guidance and expertise, recognizing the outgoing DG’s significant impact on the sector. He emphasized the continued need for Jamoh’s knowledge and experience in the maritime industry.
“I am thankful to the outgoing DG for mentoring me since I assumed office as the Executive Director of Finance & Administration four years ago. Your expertise will remain invaluable to the industry,” stated Offodile.
Dr. Jamoh’s handover to Offodile is in line with the Federal Government’s guidelines for the conclusion of tenure processes for heads of extra-ministerial departments, Director-Generals, and Chief Executive Officers of government-owned agencies and companies.
