Trade Facilitation: NPA Chief, Bello-Koko, and Lagos Port Managers Honored by JournalNG

The Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Mohammed Bello-Koko, and the Port Managers of Tin Can Island and Lagos Ports Complex have been awarded for their outstanding efforts in trade facilitation.

They were recognized for their work in decongesting the Apapa-Oshodi axis of the port access road.

The awards were presented at the fourth JournalNG Port Industry Town Hall meeting, where Sylvester Othuke Egede, Port Manager of Tin Can Port, and Charles Okaga, Port Manager of Apapa Port Complex, were specifically acknowledged for their contributions.

They successfully cleared the road that had been impassable for vehicles for 13 years.

The Apapa port traffic challenge had been a longstanding issue that previous attempts had failed to resolve.

However, the efforts of the awardees, in collaboration with the Lagos State Government, led to significant progress in addressing the congestion and illegal activities along the corridor.

Ismail Aniemu, the organizer of the award and Publisher of JournalNG, praised the recipients for their dedication and perseverance in overcoming challenges.

He highlighted their collaboration with government and private sector stakeholders, as well as law enforcement agencies, in achieving a smoother flow of traffic for trucks entering and exiting the ports.

The implementation of the ETO electronic call-up system for trucks has further improved the efficiency of port operations, ensuring a seamless transit for import and export activities.

The elimination of truck parking along the roads has significantly reduced congestion and improved overall traffic flow in the area.
