Tincan Island Customs Command Partners with Nigerian Professional Wrestling Federation

The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has partnered with the Nigerian Professional Wrestling Federation (NPWF) to promote the upcoming African International Wrestling Championship.

The event, scheduled to take place from October 18 to 19, 2025, at Dr. Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, Anambra State, will feature wrestling legends and emerging talents from Nigeria, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, and several African nations.

The championship aims to showcase Nigeria’s untapped wrestling potential while empowering over 100 Nigerian youths through grassroots development programs.

NPWF President, Chief John Uche, emphasized that the event will help curb youth restiveness, reduce poverty, and create sustainable job opportunities through sporting events.

Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, commended the NPWF for promoting local sporting activities and recognizing the Nigeria Customs Service as a strategic partner.

He affirmed the Service’s commitment to youth development and grassroots sports promotion under the leadership of Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi.

The highlight of the partnership was the unveiling and formal presentation of the championship trophy and award of excellence to Comptroller Onyeka by the NPWF leadership.

This symbolic gesture represents the mutual commitment to the success of the tournament and aligns with the shared vision of building a healthier, more productive generation.

The partnership between the Tincan Island Command and NPWF demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to promoting sports development and youth empowerment in Nigeria.

The event is expected to attract thousands of spectators, promote sports tourism, and position Nigeria as a leading hub for professional wrestling on the continent.
