The Snail Lesson – By The Nature Nurse

I love Snail Meat…

After buying Snails, before preparing them for meal, I usually take out time to observe them as their behaviour often amazes me…

I decided one day that I was going to find out why Snails act in certain ways….. And my findings will surprise you…

I will speak on the most striking observations I made…

I observed that when a Snail comes out of its shell and gets poked, it immediately Retracts …

Well, I found out that it acts that way when it senses something Offensive…. In other words, poking the snail is offensive to it and so it runs back to its shell…

I also noticed that snails foam or bubble at certain times. Well, I found out that they do so to protect themselves from Threatening situations…

Reflecting on These Mannerisms of Snails and Why they do so, Got Me Thinking DEEP and I was able to get some valuable lessons which I would love to share…

Just like a Snail, We may be “poked at” We may be offended by someone or even provoked…

Question: How Do We Respond?

Remember, The Snail Retracts When Poked At….

LESSON:

You cannot control how people react to you but you can ALWAYS control how you react ..

When it is Obvious That Someone is trying to Stir a Fight, Do I Fan The Flames? Or Avoid it?

The Holy Scripture says: Before the Quarrel would have burst forth, Take Your Leave….

Just Like a Snail, We May be faced with a threatening situation…

Question: How Do We React?

Remember, The Snail Foams Or Bubbles When It Feels Threatened… It is a Survival Skill for it…

LESSON:

There is more Wisdom in Concealing Yourself from Danger than facing it….

You Are Not like a Prize Fighter who Should Always Be Ready For A Fight, or Face All Confrontation…

Like a Verse in the Holy Book I always love to quote says: The wise one sees the calamity and proceeds to conceal himself, but the foolish passes along and fairs badly….

So, What Do I See When I Look At The Snail?

All I see is Wisdom… Yes!!! Great Wisdom…

All I see is a creature that places so much value on its life and is ready to protect it to the best of its Ability..

It might be considered the slowest but Yet Has Great Survival Skills

I Mustn’t Win Every Fight so to speak…

I Mustn’t Win Every Argument….

I Mustn’t Confront Everything…

Sometimes it is wise to just let yourself be offended… Retract as it were, just like a snail… Conceal Yourself From Danger….

That is not being Weak..

That to me is knowing what is more important, knowing what is at stake …

And That is Wisdom….
