The Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) has condemned the recent attacks on the Kaduna Airport and another on a passenger train that led to loss of lives and damage to social infrastructure.
In a statement signed by Acting Director-General, NACCIMA, Opeyemi Alaran, the organised private sector mouthpiece expressed concern over the negative perception of the Nigerian businesss environment created by the worsening tate of insecurity in the country and called on Government to come up with appropriate policy framework to arrest the situation.
The statement read in part, “It is with a sense of sadness that our Association, NACCIMA, reacts to news of bandit attacks on the Kaduna Airport and another on a passenger train; just a few of recent news reports of such attacks.
“Our sense of sadness is for the avoidable loss of lives, for which we commiserate with the family and loved ones of the deceased, as well as the humanitarian and economic damage that these attacks have caused. As these quantifiable losses mount, the Association is further disturbed by the increasing connotation that our country is unsafe to do business.
“This is extremely concerning given that current economic realities require inflows of foreign direct investment for sustained economic growth. We advocate yet again for urgent and incisive policy implementation by government at all levels to tackle this issue of insecurity.
“NACCiMA is on hand to partner with government to implement innovative solutions based on existing platforms, such as the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC).”
