The deteriorating state of insecurity in Nigeria is a cause of concern for the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN).
The umbrella body of manufacturers, in a statement signed by it’s Director General, Segun Ajayi-Kadir, decried the recent kidnap of the Chief Executive of Fouani Group while commending the bravery of security agencies in securing the release of the victim.
MAN highlighted that the entire manufacturing community in the country is in shock over the undesirable incident, while raising questions about the safety of its chief executives and the entire workforce in the sector.
Ajayi-Kadir stated, ” The Association, on receiving the news of the unfortunate incident, frantically made contact with relevant authorities, including security agencies, to express its deep concerns and to reaffirm its confidence in the ability of the agencies to briskly bring an end to the nightmare.
“We are glad that the efforts of the security agencies paid off and yielded results without casualties among the victims. MAN commends the security agencies for the safe release of Mr. Fouani.”
MAN sympathised with the released Chief Executive of Fouani Group for his ordeal in the hands of the kidnappers and expressed solidarity with the family of the victim.
The Association expressed fears that if the current state of insecurity is not promptly tackled, investor confidence in the country would wane, posing a significant threat to businesses and the overall economic development of Nigeria thereby rubbishing the efforts of the President Tinubu’s administration to reposition the economy for growth.
The manufacturers association reaffirmed its commitment to the safety and well-being of its members adding that it will continue to collaborate with authorities to address security challenges affecting the manufacturing sector in particular and the nation in general.
