The Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has achieved a remarkable ranking in the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) 2024 Mid-Year Compliance Report.

According to the report, SON ranked second among 20 Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) with a score of 78.2% for its compliance and consistency with laid-down procedures for efficient public service delivery.

The report, which covers the period from January 2024 to June 2024, highlights SON’s commitment to providing excellent service to its customers.

The agency’s ranking is a testament to its dedication to adhering to Service Level Agreements (SLAs), managing costs efficiently, and maintaining procedural efficiency.

The PEBEC Secretariat’s report notes that despite bureaucratic challenges and issues with consequence management, SON has demonstrated exceptional performance.

The agency’s score of 78.2% places it second only to the Nigerian Content Development Management Board (NCDMB), which scored 80.1%.

The report also highlights the progress made by MDAs in adhering to SLAs and advancing digitization efforts.

The overall rankings have shown significant improvement, with over 60% of MDAs now scoring above average, compared to the previous report where only 30% achieved above-average scores.

The Efficiency Compliance Ranking evaluates MDAs based on their adherence to SLAs, cost management, procedural efficiency, One Government directive, and instances of Default Approval as provided in the Business Facilitation Act 2022.

MDAs demonstrating outstanding performance consistently achieve high efficiency report scores, adhere strictly to service guidelines, and meet or exceed customer expectations.

The Director General and Chief Executive of SON, Dr. Ifeanyi Chukwunonso Okeke, has expressed his commitment to ensuring that SON continues to render its services efficiently for the overall good of the country.

He has aligned the organization’s mandate with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda for an industrialized nation.

The dedication and commitment of SON’s staff have been instrumental in the organization’s consistent performance.

Their tireless efforts to rid the nation of substandard products have contributed to SON’s ranking among the top three MDAs in recent years.
