The Namibian High Commissioner to Nigeria, His Excellency, Humphrey Geiseb, has commended the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority NPA, Mohammed Bello-Koko, for his commitment towards upgrading Nigeria’s port infrastructure in line with international standard.
The Namibian diplomat, who was on a courtesy visit to the corporate headquarters of the NPA recently, expressed admiration for the hard work by the Bello-Koko-led management team to automate the system and make it more efficient and user friendly.
He noted that the Nigeria, with its dominant role in port management in the West African subregion, has many things in common with Namibia, as both countries run multiple seaport structures.
For his part, Bello-Koko thanked the High Commissioner for finding time to visit the management of the NPA and indicated his administration’s willingness to share ideas with the Namibian envoy on development modern port infrastructure and automation.
The NPA boss also noted that his management teem is working round the clock to promote non-oil exports through upgrade of port infrastructure, human capacity development with the aim of making Nigeria’s seaports efficient and globally competitive in line with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO)’s requirements.
