In a significant development, the Oyo State Government has announced that approximately 15,000 candidates will sit for a computer-based test (CBT) as part of the recruitment process into various cadres in the civil service.
This was disclosed by the Chairman, Oyo State Civil Service Commission, Kamoru Abiodun Aderibigbe, in his office in Ibadan.
According to Aderibigbe, the examination will take place from Monday, November 25, 2024, to Thursday, November 28, 2024.
He revealed that Governor Seyi Makinde has approved the recruitment of about 900 officers into over 60 cadres across various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the mainstream of the civil service.
Out of the 22,235 applications received by the Commission, Aderibigbe stated that 15,000 candidates were qualified to sit for the CBT, representing about 67% of the total applications.
He emphasized that this recruitment exercise is unprecedented in the history of Oyo State, as it marks the first time in two decades that such a large-scale recruitment has been conducted.
Aderibigbe highlighted that the present administration has made significant strides in recruitment, citing examples such as the recruitment of 60 Environmental Health personnel in 2020, 692 Education Officers, 30 state Counsel in the same year, and 19 officers for the Ministry of Lands.
The Chairman explained that similar cadres have been grouped to sit at the same examination center, with applicants divided into two groups to assess their competence.
Candidates seeking employment as Education Officers, Environmental Health personnel, Social Welfare, and Youth will sit for the CBT at the Arch.
Bamidele Samson CBT Center, opposite the University College Hospital (UCH), on Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26.
Others will sit for their examination at the Distance Learning CBT Center, Ajibode, Ibadan, on Thursday, November 28, 2024.
Aderibigbe advised applicants to visit the Oyo State Government portal to check their eligibility and to refresh their application status.
He also urged successful applicants to come to the examination center with their printed application form and invitation slip.
Aderibigbe expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for the opportunity to empower thousands of youths through employment, lifting them from poverty to prosperity.
This development is a significant step towards addressing the unemployment challenges faced by the youth in Oyo State, and it is expected that the successful candidates will contribute to the development of the state.
