In a move aimed at bridging the gap in the workforce at the local government level, the Oyo State Government has converted 1,591 local government ad-hoc workers into permanent staff. This development is in fulfillment of Governor Seyi Makinde’s promise made in October last year.¹
The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Ademola Ojo, announced that the letters of appointment are ready for collection. Ojo noted that the due process for the employment was followed effectively and perfected.
Successful applicants are advised to collect their appointment letters at the Local Government Service Commission from Monday, February 3, to Thursday, February 6, 2025, between 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. daily. However, collection of appointment letters by proxy is strictly prohibited.
The distribution of letters will follow a schedule, with different cadres collecting their letters on specific days:
– Monday, February 3: Administrative Officer, Agricultural Officer, Data Processing Officer, Engineering, Building, and Quantity Surveyor, Estate Valuation Officer, Environmental Health Officer, Information Officer, and Land Surveyor.
– Tuesday, February 4: Clerical Officer.
– Wednesday, February 5: Messenger and Cleaner.
– Thursday, February 6: Driver / Mechanic, Articulated Vehicle Drivers, and Watchmen.
Ojo congratulated the successful candidates and wished them success in their new roles.
This development is expected to boost the morale of the affected workers and enhance the overall efficiency of the local government administration.
