A non-governmental organisation in special consultative status with economic and social council of the United Nations, Leadership Watch (LW), has asked the South East Houses of Assembly to immediately take a clue from the South West on the ban of open grazing by making it a criminal practice that should be rejected by all.
Founder/CEO of LW, Dr. Martins P. Iwuanyanwu, in a statement said open grazing is “a plot to grab the lands of indigenous Nigerians by alien Fulanis” stressing that the Eastern states Houses of Assembly should without further delay pass a motion or a bill to actualize the declaration of the southern governors Forum on open grazing prohibition.
Dr. Iwuanyanwu also urged the parliamentarians to compel the various governors in the south east to seek alternate means of ending the lingering IPOB and other security challenges in the region. “By that we mean all inclusive round table dialogue and not the continued use of force that has led to the killing of many of our youths”
He urged the people of the south east to immediately take steps to stop the payments of monthly salaries and allowances of the members of the various houses of assembly should they fail to wake up to their responsibilities as demanded by the social contracts.
Dr. Iwuanyanwu further asked the various state houses of assembly in the south east to follow the foot steps of Lagos state House of Assembly in the amendment of criminal justice laws of their respective states to guarantee the fundamental human rights of our people.
