The Finance and Business Online Publishers (FiBOP) has selected Dr. Charles Okaga, General Manager, Operations Nigerian Ports Authority, as a recipient of its honor for his exceptional leadership role and contributions to improved port operations growth and business.
Dr. Okaga’s impressive educational background includes a Bachelor of Science Degree in Geography and Regional Planning from the University of Calabar, Bachelor of Law (LLB), Master of Science in Transportation Planning, and an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Leadership and Corporate Governance from the European-American University, Panama.
A seasoned administrator and result-driven team player, Dr. Okaga has attended several job trainings, bolstering his expertise in the port industry.
His distinguished career within the Nigerian Ports Authority includes serving as the 27th Port Manager of Apapa and holding strategic positions such as Technical Assistant to the Managing Director and PA to the Executive Director Marine and Operations.
Dr. Okaga’s extensive experience encompasses serving on key committees, including the Presidential Standing Committee on Private Jetties, Head of the NPA Stevedoring Desk, and Member of the Project Delivery Team for Ibom Deep Sea Port.
He also chaired the Project Delivery Team, Port Electronic call-up System and served as Ag. Chairman, 25 years Port master Plan.
Notably, Dr. Okaga’s leadership as Chairman Project Implementation Committee on Traffic Management and Electronic Call-Up System significantly contributed to restoring order to the notorious traffic gridlock along Port access roads.
Collaborating with the Lagos State Government, Police, and stakeholders, he successfully cleared the roads, making Apapa one of the most accessible locations in Lagos.
