The Director General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dr. Dayo Mobereola, has issued a warning to the public about the existence of fake social media accounts claiming to be his.
These unauthorized accounts are not affiliated with him or NIMASA, and he has advised the public to be cautious and only communicate with official social media platforms.
Dr. Mobereola made this announcement on his verified X handle @MobereolaD, stating that any accounts claiming to represent him or NIMASA are false and not endorsed by the Agency.
He emphasized that NIMASA has not designated any entity or person to act on its behalf, and any claims made by these fake accounts should be treated with suspicion.
The public is urged to verify the authenticity of any claims made by these accounts and report any incidents to info@nimasa.gov.ng or the appropriate law enforcement agencies.
Dr. Mobereola has disclaimed any liability for losses incurred due to reliance on these fraudulent accounts, which include Facebook, LinkedIn, emails, and other online publications.
The existence of these fake accounts highlights the need for vigilance in the digital age, where scammers can easily create false identities and prey on unsuspecting individuals.
By bringing this to the public’s attention, Dr. Mobereola aims to protect the public from potential scams and maintain the integrity of NIMASA’s online presence.
