Nigerian Maritime Journalists to Honour Customs CG Adewale Adeniyi, with “Iconic Maritime Personality of the Year”

The Nigerian Maritime Journalists (NMJ) have announced plans to confer the “Iconic Maritime Personality of the Year 2024” award on the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, MFR.

This unanimous decision was made by all maritime journalists covering the maritime beat, representing various media associations, including MARAN, LOME, AMJON, MAJAN, SCAN, OMMAN, and CONMMEP.

The NMJ recognizes Adeniyi’s outstanding performance since assuming office, particularly in areas such as revenue collection, anti-smuggling activities, trade facilitation, and national security.

His efforts have earned him national and international recognition, including the Public Service Personality of the Year award from the Leadership Newspaper Group.

Dele Aderibigbe, Chairman of the Award Planning Committee, emphasized that this honor is symbolic, as it marks the first time all maritime journalists have come together to recognize a deserving leader.

The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at the Lagos Airport Hotel, Awolowo Road Ikeja, Lagos State, at 6 pm prompt.
