The nation’s science, technology, and innovation sector is gearing up for its inaugural National Conference on Science, Technology, and Innovation Communication (STICOMMSLOC).
The event, scheduled for October 21-23, 2025, at the African University of Science and Technology (AUST) in Abuja, aims to bring together key stakeholders to promote research and policies that will drive Nigeria’s STI sector.
The conference theme, “Communicating Science, Technology, and Innovation for National Development,” underscores the importance of effective communication in translating research into tangible outcomes.
According to Dr. Bosco Okolo-Obi, Chairman of the Local Organizing Committee, the event will provide a platform for stakeholders to chart a new course, break down technical barriers, and advocate for policies that institutionalise science communication in Nigeria.
The conference aligns with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes economic diversification, innovation-driven growth, and human capital development.
Professor Azikiwe Peter Onwualu, President of AUST, expressed pride in hosting the conference, highlighting the institution’s innovation hub, where recent outputs are being commercialized.
Stakeholders, including researchers, industry leaders, policymakers, and the media, are urged to participate in the conference, which promises to be a milestone in Nigeria’s push for sustainability in STI.
The event’s organizers have called on citizens to promote the culture of STI, stressing its importance in driving industrial development and national growth.
