By Newsshelve Correspondent.

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) officially unveiled Eric Chelle as the new head coach of the Super Eagles on Monday.

The ceremony took place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, with dignitaries such as Chairman of the National Sports Commission (NSC) Shehu Dikko, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, and Secretary General Mohammed Sanusi in attendance.

Chelle, a 47-year-old tactician, joins the Super Eagles with a wealth of experience, having previously managed Algerian club MC Oran.

He will be assisted by three backroom staff: First Assistant Hadi Taboubi, Fitness Trainer Thomas Gornourec, and Goalkeeper Trainer Jean Daniel Padovani.

The Frenchman’s appointment comes at a critical time for the Super Eagles, who are currently struggling in the qualifiers for the 2024 African Nations Championship.

With only three points from four matches, the team is yet to secure a victory and sits in fifth place in Group C.

Chelle’s primary objective will be to lead the Super Eagles to victory in the 2024 African Nations Championship, which will be co-hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania.

He will also be responsible for guiding the home-based Super Eagles in the CHAN tournament, set to take place in Ivory Coast.

The NFF confirmed Chelle’s appointment last Tuesday, making him the 42nd substantive head coach of the Super Eagles.

With his wealth of experience and expertise, Chelle is expected to bring a new level of competitiveness and success to the team.

As Chelle begins his tenure as Super Eagles manager, Nigerian football fans will be eagerly watching to see if he can turn the team’s fortunes around and lead them to victory in the upcoming tournaments.
