Nigeria Customs Service Trains PR Personnel on New Media, Strategic Communication

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has concluded a three-day hybrid training workshop on New Media and Strategic Communication for its Public Relations personnel.

The workshop, held from May 7 to 9, 2025, at the NCS Headquarters in Abuja, aimed to strengthen the capacity of PR personnel in digital engagement, media innovation, content creation, and strategic communication.

The workshop covered various topics, including house style development, editorial processes, inclusive language, visual storytelling, design principles, and media law.

Participants engaged in interactive sessions with experts in journalism, communication strategy, and digital media.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, represented by Assistant Comptroller-General Isah Umar, emphasized the importance of strong communication in advancing the Service’s modernization and public engagement.

ACG Umar stressed that capacity building is essential for officers charged with promoting the NCS.

Assistant Comptroller and National Public Relations Officer Abdullahi Maiwada encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained from the workshop to improve their professional effectiveness and contribute to the Service’s growth.

The workshop concluded with a certificate presentation, recognizing participants’ commitment to professional development.

The training is expected to enhance the NCS’s public image and outreach through improved communication and strategic engagement.
