The Nigeria Customs Service has taken a significant step towards enhancing its institutional integrity and building public trust with the launch of its Reputation Management Campaign in Zone ‘B’, Kaduna.
The campaign, which kicked off on August 13, 2025, aims to equip officers with the skills necessary to promote transparency, accountability, and professionalism.
The event was held at the Federal Operations Unit (FOU) Zone ‘B’ auditorium in Kawo, Kaduna State, and brought together representatives from commands across the zone.
Train-the-trainer sessions were conducted to ensure uniform adoption of the Reputation Management Guide’s principles across all formations in Zone ‘B’.
Comptroller Aliyu Alkalia, Customs Area Controller for FOU Zone ‘B’, emphasized the importance of reputation in the Service, stating that it is “the foundation for building trust and distinguishing the Nigeria Customs Service”.
He thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, and the Management Team for initiating the Guide, calling it “a significant milestone in the journey to enhance service delivery and project the positive image of the organisation”.
Assistant Comptroller-General (ACG) Adekunle Oloyede stressed that a strong reputation underpins operational success and fosters public cooperation.
He noted that as representatives of the Nigeria Customs Service, officers are ambassadors of the organisation, and their behaviour and conduct directly affect how the public perceives the Service.
The National Public Relations Officer of the Service, Assistant Comptroller (AC) Abdullahi Maiwada, delivered the welcome address, highlighting the importance of consistent communication and professionalism in sustaining the Service’s credibility.
Deputy Comptroller (DC) Sambo Adamu reaffirmed Zone ‘B’ officers’ commitment to fully uphold the Reputation Management Guide in all engagements, ensuring that the Service’s credibility is sustained through consistent communication and professionalism.
By launching this campaign, the Nigeria Customs Service is taking a proactive approach to strengthening its institutional integrity and building public trust, ultimately enhancing its service delivery and reputation.
