Nigeria Customs Service Holds Leadership Retreat for Newly Promoted Comptrollers

The Nigeria Customs Service organized a week-long leadership retreat for its newly promoted Comptrollers, focusing on strengthening leadership capacity, innovation, and institutional integrity.

The retreat, held at the Sen. Ahmed Makarfi Auditorium of the Nigeria Customs Command and Staff College, Gwagwalada, took place from October 7 to 11, 2025.

Deputy Comptroller-General of Customs Sulaiman Chiroma, representing the Comptroller-General of Customs, emphasized the importance of leadership, discipline, accountability, and innovation in the Service.

He charged the officers to be deliberate in their leadership and uphold the values of the Service, stressing that their performance would define the image of the Service in the public space.

The retreat highlighted the need for Comptrollers to demonstrate professionalism, teamwork, and integrity in their roles.

The newly promoted Comptrollers expressed gratitude to the Comptroller-General and management team for their support and trust.

They pledged to discharge their duties effectively, protect the image of the Service, and ensure the realization of the CGC’s vision of institutional excellence and stakeholder confidence.
