NGX Group, Stakeholders Rally for Gender Equality in Nigeria

Nigerian Exchange Group Plc (NGX Group) and Central Securities Clearing System Plc (CSCS) recently hosted a symposium to mark International Women’s Day 2025, themed “Accelerate Action for all Women: Rights, Equality, and Empowerment.”

The event brought together stakeholders to drive gender inclusivity in Nigeria’s economy.

Hannatu Musa Musawa, Minister of Arts, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, delivered the keynote address, emphasizing the economic and social imperative of women’s empowerment.

She stressed that investments in education, vocational training, and capital access are crucial for sustainable growth.

Other notable speakers included Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, Group Chairman of NGX Group; Dr. Emomotimi Agama, Director General of Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC); and Temi Popoola, Group Managing Director and CEO of NGX Group.

They reaffirmed their commitment to gender diversity, called for reforms to boost women’s participation in capital markets, and emphasized the urgency of accelerating action for gender equality.

The event featured a panel discussion with accomplished female leaders, including Chalya Shagaya and Hilda Baci, who shared strategies for breaking barriers and fostering women’s economic empowerment.

Professor Folasade Ogunsola, Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, highlighted the role of education and mentorship in bridging gender gaps.

NGX Group also hosted the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality ceremony, a global initiative promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment.

The event was attended by prominent figures, including veteran actress Joke Silva and SEC Commissioner Frana Chukwuogor.
