A handing-over ceremony held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the Oyo/Osun Area Command headquarters in Ibadan, marks a significant transition in leadership.
Comptroller Joseph Olugbuyi Adelaja (Rtd) formally handed over to Comptroller Gambo Iyere Aliyu as the new Customs Area Controller.
During his tenure, Comptroller Adelaja highlighted notable achievements, including remarkable strides in revenue generation, successful anti-smuggling operations, and improved welfare facilities for officers.
Specifically, he resolved long-standing power supply challenges at the Customs Barracks and installed solar systems at the mosque and church within the barracks.
Adelaja expressed gratitude to Almighty God, the Service management, and officers for their maximum cooperation and urged them to extend the same support to his successor.
Comptroller Aliyu commended his predecessor’s achievements and pledged to build upon them. He noted that his administration will focus on three key areas.
– Enhanced Revenue Generation: Implementing effective strategies to boost revenue collection
– Intelligence-Driven Anti-Smuggling: Combating smuggling activities with data-driven approaches
– Officer Welfare and Discipline: Prioritizing officer well-being while maintaining strict discipline
Comptroller Aliyu called for cooperation from officers, stakeholders, sister agencies, and host communities to achieve greater success.
The ceremony was attended by senior officers and heads of units, marking a smooth transition of leadership.
