New Comptroller Takes Helm of Kebbi Area Command, Pledges to Stem Smuggling, Boost Revenue

A new leadership era dawned on the Kebbi Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service with the official assumption of duty by Comptroller Mahmoud Matawalle Ibrahim.

The handover ceremony, held on September 8, 2025, at the Command’s Conference Room, was attended by management team members, officers, and the press.

The outgoing Customs Area Controller highlighted key achievements during his tenure, including surpassing the Command’s revenue target by 13.9% within eight months and introducing welfare initiatives for personnel.

He expressed gratitude to the Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, for the opportunity to serve.

Comptroller Ibrahim emphasized his core focus areas, including discipline, robust anti-smuggling operations, enhanced revenue performance, effective border management, stakeholder engagement, and personnel welfare.

He pledged to build on the Command’s successes and tackle challenges head-on.

The ceremony concluded with both Comptrollers touring the Command for an official handover, following the signing of the handover notes, ensuring a smooth transition of leadership.
