The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has issued a stern warning to drug trafficking cartels in Edo State, vowing to crack down on illicit cannabis cultivation, drug trafficking, and related crimes.
The warning was made by Commander Mitchell Ofoyeju, who recently took over the agency’s operations in the state.
Commander Ofoyeju emphasized that the NDLEA, under the leadership of Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa, is committed to enforcing zero tolerance for illicit drug production and trafficking.
He warned drug cartels to quit their activities or face imminent arrest and prosecution.
Commander Ofoyeju brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously served as the agency’s spokesperson and principal staff officer.
He has also undergone specialized security training and holds a master’s degree in marketing from Benue State University.
The commander called on the public to cooperate with the agency in the fight against drug trafficking and abuse, emphasizing that effective drug control is crucial to securing the future of young people and preventing crime rates in the state.
Commander Ofoyeju reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to advancing the War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) campaign initiative through supply control and demand reduction.
He pledged to work tirelessly to safeguard the public, especially youths, from the harmful consequences of drugs.
