NCS, NACCIMA Strengthen Collaboration on Trade

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) and the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (NACCIMA) have pledged to strengthen their partnership to enhance trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border management.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, made this commitment known during a meeting with the newly elected National President of NACCIMA, Jani Ibrahim, and his management team at the Customs Headquarters in Abuja.

Adeniyi emphasized the importance of collaboration in achieving the Service’s mandate, noting that revenue generation, national security, and trade facilitation are critical to Nigeria’s economic growth.

He announced plans to dedicate special desks for NACCIMA members to resolve issues related to Customs processes.

NACCIMA President Jani Ibrahim commended the Customs Service for its reforms, including the introduction of the Authorised Economic Operator programme and the deployment of indigenous digital platforms.

These initiatives, he said, have reduced bureaucratic bottlenecks and strengthened Nigeria’s position in global trade.

Ibrahim proposed the establishment of a Joint Technical Facilitation Committee with representatives from both NACCIMA and Customs.

This committee, he said, would provide a framework for regular consultation and measurable progress on areas of collaboration, reducing the cost of doing business and positioning Nigeria strategically under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

Both parties expressed their commitment to supporting each other in achieving their mandates.

The Customs Service and NACCIMA are set to work together to promote economic growth and development in Nigeria through enhanced trade facilitation, revenue generation, and border management.
