NASENI Research Director Honored as Fellow of Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society

Dr. Samuel Olugbenga Olusunle, Research Director of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has been conferred with the prestigious Fellow of Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (FNMGS).

This honor was bestowed upon him during the Society’s 60th Annual International Conference and Exhibition (AICE) held in Abuja from February 16 to 19, 2025.

The Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS), established in 1977, is one of the oldest professional bodies in Nigeria.

Its objectives include advancing the practice of mining, earth sciences, and metallurgy, as well as acquiring, preserving, and disseminating knowledge in these fields.

Dr. Olusunle, who was among 43 members honored with the Fellow category, expressed his gratitude and humility at the recognition.

He noted that NASENI’s mandate and NMGS’s core concerns are closely related, with NASENI having an institute focused on solid minerals exploitation and being involved in the Federal Government’s CNG project.

The conferment ceremony was part of the NMGS’s 60th Annual International Conference and Exhibition, which aimed to recognize members who have contributed significantly to the growth and development of the mining and geosciences profession in Nigeria.

Dr. Olusunle’s achievement adds to his impressive list of fellowships, including the Nigeria Institute of Mechanical Engineers, Materials Science and Technology Society of Nigeria, and Nigerian Metallurgical Society, among others.
