In a bid to promote the use of clean energy and reduce the cost of living for Nigerians, the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) has launched the Presidential CNG Initiative’s (Pi-CNG) Conversion Incentive Program for the ride-share sector.
The program, which was launched alongside the introduction of the MY-CNG App, offers a 50% discount to drivers who sign up and use the app.
The launch event, held at NASENI’s Compressed Natural Gas Engineering, Training, and Conversion facility in Utako, Abuja, was attended by dignitaries including the Honourable Minister of State (Gas), Petroleum Resources, Hon. Ekperipe Ekpo, and the Director-General of Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Dr Muhammed Bulama.
Speaking at the event, NASENI’s Executive Vice Chairman/CEO, Khalil Suleiman Halilu, emphasized the significance of Pi-CNG in Nigeria’s gas revolution.
He noted that the initiative has the potential to reduce transportation costs by up to 70% and deliver 40% savings for car owners.
Halilu stressed the importance of collaboration in achieving these milestones, commending partners Pi-CNG, Portland, and Dana Motors for their dedication.
He also highlighted the importance of leveraging technology to drive national transformation, noting that the MY-CNG App and Conversion Incentive Program reflect NASENI’s commitment to this goal.
The agency remains Nigeria’s leading technology-transfer agency, fostering innovation, research, and development to support industrial growth and economic sustainability.
This initiative is a response to current economic challenges, offering a viable solution to reduce the cost of living for Nigerians.
By promoting the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG), NASENI aims to support national development goals, including energy efficiency, climate action, job creation, and poverty alleviation.
The use of CNG as a cleaner and more affordable alternative to traditional fuels is expected to have a positive impact on the environment and the economy.
The launch of the Pi-CNG Conversion Incentive Program and the MY-CNG App is a significant step towards achieving these goals.
The program offers a 50% discount to drivers who sign up and use the app, making it an attractive option for ride-share drivers who want to reduce their operating costs.
In addition to the discount, the program also offers other benefits, including access to a network of CNG fueling stations and maintenance services.
The MY-CNG App provides a platform for drivers to manage their CNG fueling and maintenance needs, making it easier for them to switch to CNG.
Overall, the launch of the Pi-CNG Conversion Incentive Program and the MY-CNG App is a significant development in Nigeria’s clean energy sector.
It demonstrates the government’s commitment to promoting the use of clean energy and reducing the cost of living for Nigerians.
