The Ministry of Police Affairs has bid farewell to its outgoing Permanent Secretary, James Sule, who retired after 35 years of meritorious service to the nation.
The send-forth ceremony, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in Abuja, was attended by top officials, including the Director Overseeing the Permanent Secretary Office, Yusuf Abubakar Argungu.
In his farewell address, Sule charged the directorate cadre to mentor officers in the service for effective service delivery to the citizens.
He emphasized the importance of leadership, stating that “everything starts and ends with leadership” and urging the directors to uphold the organization’s rules and regulations without considering people’s feelings.
Sule also encouraged the directors to be fair, accountable, and transparent in their activities, and to mentor the younger ones to impact positively on others.
He expressed gratitude to the management and staff of the Ministry for their support and teamwork, which he said had been instrumental in achieving the Ministry’s goals.
In his remarks, Argungu praised Sule for his invaluable contributions to the Ministry, saying that the staff had learned so much from him.
He noted that Sule’s retirement marked the beginning of a new chapter in his life, and wished him a retirement filled with exciting journeys.
The ceremony was attended by other top officials, including the Director of Police Services Department, Ibrahim Muhammed; Director of Finance and Accounts, Okehie Isaac Tochukwu; Director (Reforms and Innovation Coordination), Dr. Ogbu Fabian Ejiofor; and Director of Police Inspectorate Department, Mrs. Bola Blessing Aderele.
Sule’s retirement marks the end of an era, but his legacy will continue to inspire and motivate the staff of the Ministry of Police Affairs.
His contributions to the development of the Nigerian Police Force will not be forgotten, and his commitment to mentoring and leadership will continue to have a positive impact on the nation.
