The Association of Maritime Journalists of Nigeria (AMJON) is set to host its 2025 Annual Conference and Awards in collaboration with NLNG Shipping and Marine Services Limited (NSML) at the Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Lagos, on July 18, 2025.
In a release, the President of AMJON, Kelvin Kagbare said the conference will bring together key maritime stakeholders and policymakers to discuss the theme “Maritime Development: Training, Port Efficiency and Shipping Imperatives.”
According to the statement, the conference will feature paper presentations from prominent maritime organizations, including NSML, NPA, NIMASA, Nigerian Shippers’ Council, and Maritime Academy of Nigeria Oron.
The papers will cover topics such as vintage position and services, repositioning Nigerian ports for global competitiveness, ensuring safety and security on Nigerian waters, efficient manpower in the Nigerian maritime industry, and efficient port regulation in Nigeria’s port industry.
The conference will also feature an awards ceremony, where notable organizations and individuals will be honored for their outstanding contributions to the maritime industry.
The awardees include NSML, NPA, NIMASA, NSC, MAN Oron, Inland Containers Nigerian Limited (ICNL), Hon Prince Godwin Ogorugba, Comrade Francis Bunu, and JournalNG.
The Chairman of the organizing committee, Paul Ogbuokiri, expressed optimism that the conference will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss key challenges and opportunities in the maritime industry.
