MAN Commends Nigerian Government for Suspending Expatriate Employment Levy

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) has expressed its appreciation to the Federal Government of Nigeria for suspending the implementation of the Expatriate Employment Levy (EEL).

Segun Ajayi-Kadir, Director General/Chief Executive Officer of MAN, revealed that MAN had previously made a request to the President and relevant Ministers to halt the enforcement of the levy.

The swift intervention of the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy was deeply appreciated by MAN.

Ajayi-Kadir also acknowledged the important role played by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, as well as the support from the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform.

The Minister of Interior was also commended for taking the right steps to address the concerns of domestic and foreign private sector investors in Nigeria, which has helped alleviate the anxiety within the business community.

MAN believes that the suspension of the EEL will reassure the international business community, especially those with whom Nigeria has signed trade agreements, of the country’s commitment to creating a conducive business environment.
