IWD 2024: Unity Bank Empowers 5000 Women in Nigeria Through Yanga Account

Unity Bank Plc and the Association of Nigerian Women Business Network (ANWBN) joined forces to empower over 5000, women from 90 groups, through the Yanga Account as part of the 2024 International Women’s Day celebrations.

The Yanga Account offers enhanced product packages tailored to women entrepreneurs, including capacity building, MSME financing schemes, affordable health insurance, and cash management.

During a forum in Abuja with the theme “Building Sustainable Entrepreneurial and Financial Skills for Women in Challenging Times,” Adenike Abimbola, Divisional Head of Retail & SME Banking at Unity Bank Plc, highlighted the positive impact of the Yanga Account.

Since its launch in 2021, the account has benefited thousands of women by providing access to micro-loans, health insurance, and skill-building opportunities.

Angela Ajala, National Coordinator of ANWBN, praised Unity Bank for its support and emphasized the importance of equipping women with the tools and resources needed to succeed as entrepreneurs and financial leaders.

The partnership between Unity Bank and ANWBN has expanded the MSME sector in Nigeria and empowered women across the country.

In addition to the Yanga Account initiative, Unity Bank recently collaborated with SkillPaddy to provide Software Engineering Training to 1,000 female beneficiaries, further demonstrating their commitment to women’s empowerment.

The event was a success, with photo highlights showcasing the collaboration between Unity Bank, ANWBN, and women entrepreneurs. Together, they are working towards a more inclusive and empowered future for women in Nigeria.
