Governor Umo Eno Charts New Course for Akwa Ibom State’s Economic Growth

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Umo Eno, has emphasised the need for teamwork and unity among members of the Executive Council to achieve greater success in the state.

Governor Eno, who was speaking at the ongoing Executive Council (Exco) retreat in Lagos, said the event is aimed at positioning the state as a thriving economic hub beyond oil.

The retreat, brings together members of the State Executive Committee, Delivery Advisors, Heads of Departments, and key stakeholders.

Governor Eno highlighted that the retreat is designed to further refine the culture of deliverables and deepen respect for boundaries as his administration works to drive its vision of economic growth, wellbeing, peace, and prosperity for the people of Akwa Ibom State.

The governor highlighted that the projects already outlined are prioritized to deliver on the ARISE Agenda, which has been articulated and translated into implementable layers. He stressed that the Exco members are the agents to relentlessly drive the vision to completion.

Governor Eno emphasized that the theme for the retreat: “Teaming for Greater Success”calls for synergy, collaboration, loyalty, and commitment towards recording results.

The Governor expressed his excitement about the diverse range of speakers assembled, including facilitators from the Tony Blair Institute. He appreciated their willingness to share their knowledge and expertise.

He reminded the new Executive Council members that time is of the essence, given the number of ambitious projects they aim to execute and complete within the next two years of their first term.

According to him, Akwa Ibom people will not tolerate excuses, which is why he appointed a renowned technocrat as his Chief Delivery Adviser and Executive Assistant.

Governor Eno clarified that the State Delivery Advisors have clear responsibilities, including supervising major projects and ensuring their timely completion. “The Honourable Commissioners have new projects to initiate and follow through to completion.”

The Governor emphasized the need for measurable results, with participants expected to leave the retreat with realistic work plans for their short-term, medium-term, and long-term goals.
