The World Customs Organization – West and Central Africa (WCO-WCA) Regional Conference rec came to a close in Abuja, Nigeria, after a five-day gathering of customs experts, donors, and stakeholders.
Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, delivered the closing address, representing the Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, Olawale Edun.
Adeniyi applauded participants for their dedication and active engagement throughout the conference, noting that the schedule had been intense but hoping that attendees had also taken time to enjoy Nigeria’s hospitality and rich culture.
He assured that recommendations made during the conference would be addressed, continuing to support modernization programs within customs administrations.
Adeniyi extended warm regards on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria to all delegates, wishing them safe journeys back to their respective countries.
The conference reaffirmed support for the Fashion of a Journey program, a significant initiative promoting progress across member nations.
Ebenezer Tafili, representing the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, emphasized the vital role of regional cooperation in customs reform and innovation.
