Iremide Ogunyemi, a student of The Ambassadors’ College, Ota, Ogun State, has emerged as the star prize winner of Fidelity Bank’s inaugural ‘Read2Lead’ writing competition.
The announcement was made at the competition’s prize presentation event held in Lagos recently.
Ogunyemi took home a substantial cash prize, a publishing deal, and additional funds to upgrade her school’s library.
Two of her classmates, Mfeheke Okoko and Daniella Orji, secured the first and second runner-up positions, winning significant cash prizes.

Shodipo emphasized the bank’s commitment to empowering young people through education.
“The Read2Lead initiative aims to unlock the creative potentials of students and help them become better positioned for successful careers.
“We believe in the transformative power of education in changing the fortunes of any nation,” Onyeali-Ikpe stated.
The competition drew participants from across Nigeria and consisted of multiple phases, including a creative writing task, an alternate ending for a novel, and an immersive writing boot camp.
Ogunyemi expressed gratitude to Fidelity Bank for the initiative, saying, “I didn’t know I would emerge a finalist. I just decided to participate because I love writing.”
The prize presentation ceremony was attended by the Ogun State Commissioner of Education’s representative, Fidelity Bank management staff, top students, parents, teachers, and media personalities.
