Polaris Bank and the Nigeria Conservation Foundation (NCF) have partnered to launch a tree planting initiative aimed at land restoration and environmental sustainability.
The project, which kicked off at Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED) in Ogun State, aims to plant 500 trees in the university and other parts of the state.
The initiative aligns with the United Nations Decade of Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030) and the bank’s commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship.
The partnership aims to promote afforestation, restore forest cover, and combat deforestation, land degradation, and erosion.
The bank’s Executive Director, Chris Ofikulu, emphasized the importance of sustainability and environmental preservation, while the NCF’s Senior Manager, Ayodele Alamu, highlighted the need for collective efforts to achieve at least 25% forest cover in Nigeria.
Ofikulu stated, “This tree-planting project signposts Polaris Bank’s way of giving back to the society through dedication to environmental stewardship and community well-being, promoting a greener future through Corporate Responsibility.”
For his part, Alamu noted, “This tree-planting project being done in partnership with Polaris Bank and TASUED will really help to arrest this challenge and enhance sustainability of our environment.”
The event was attended by dignitaries from the university, Polaris Bank, and NCF, reinforcing the commitment to environmental sustainability and community well-being.
