Aliko Dangote, President of the Dangote Group, has reaffirmed his company’s commitment to creating jobs and contributing to Nigeria’s economic growth.
Speaking at the Dangote Refinery complex, Dangote highlighted the benefits of his company’s Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered trucks, which include attractive salaries and benefits for drivers.
The drivers of the CNG trucks will earn salaries three times the minimum wage and receive life insurance and health insurance covering themselves, spouses, and up to four children.
They will also enjoy lifelong pension benefits and be eligible for housing loans after five years of working without accidents. Dangote emphasized that membership in trade unions is optional for each driver.
Dangote dismissed concerns about job displacement, stating that the CNG trucks will create over 24,000 new jobs, including drivers, mechanics, and fleet managers.
He emphasized that his company respects trade unions but is committed to creating employment opportunities for Nigerians.
The Dangote Refinery has already made a significant impact on Nigeria’s economy by reducing petrol prices from nearly N1,100 to N841 in several states.
The refinery has also generated foreign exchange through exports, with over 1.1 billion litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) exported between June and September 2025.
Dangote reiterated his commitment to Nigeria’s industrialization, emphasizing the need to protect local industries and discourage the dumping of cheap foreign goods. He called on the National Assembly to enact legislation supporting the Federal Government’s “Nigeria First” policy.
The Dangote Refinery remains open to partnerships and collaborations with other stakeholders in the downstream sector, stressing that collective effort and cooperation are essential for the industry’s growth.
With its commitment to job creation, economic growth, and industrialization, the Dangote Refinery is poised to play a critical role in shaping Nigeria’s economic future..
