Dangote Group Pays N450bn in Taxes in 2024, Emerges Highest Tax-Paying Company in Nigeria

The Dangote Group has paid a staggering N450 billion in taxes to the Federal Government’s coffers in 2024, surpassing all other companies in Nigeria, including the country’s banking sector.

This remarkable achievement was disclosed by the President of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, during a meeting with President Bola Tinubu.

The Dangote Group’s tax payment is a significant contribution to the nation’s revenue, solidifying its position as the highest tax-paying company in Nigeria.

Despite the substantial tax payment, the Group has committed to investing an additional N900 billion in road infrastructure across Nigeria.

This includes the development of the Deep-Sea Port Access Road, a crucial project under the Federal Government’s tax credit scheme.

The Deep-Sea Port Access Road is one of eight major road projects totaling 500 kilometers, including two in Borno State that will eventually link Nigeria to both Chad and Cameroon.

Dangote praised President Tinubu’s leadership, describing him as a courageous leader who has revitalized investor confidence in the private sector.

In a gesture of appreciation, Dangote announced that the main road leading to the state-of-the-art Dangote Petroleum Refinery & Petrochemicals will be named “Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road” in honor of the President.

This announcement was met with applause from dignitaries in attendance, and President Tinubu rose to shake hands with Dangote.

However, there’s a slight discrepancy in the reported tax payment amount. According to a statement by Dangote’s Chief Branding and Communication Officer, Anthony Chiejina, the Group paid over N402 billion in taxes in 2024, which was recognized by the Federal Inland Revenue Service as the most tax-compliant organization in the country.
