Cook-a-thon: Guiness World Record Confirms Hilda Bassey as Record Holder

Nigerian celebrity chef, Hilda Bassey, has officially been confirmed as the new record holder of cook-a-thon longest cooking marathon by an individual.

Guinness World Record (GWR), in a statement through its Twitter handle on Tuesday, said Hilda’s confirmation followed review of the footage submitted by the Nigerian chef.

According to the Twitter account, “After reviewing all the footage, we’re delighted to announce that Hilda Baci is the new record holder for the longest cooking marathon (individual).”

Recall that Hilda Bassey, in the month of May 2023, cooked for 100 hours non-stop, to break India’s Lata Tondon’s 87 hours 45 minutes record of uninterrupted cooking in the process.

Meanwhile another Nigerian lady by the name ‘Dammy’ from Ekiti is said to have recently surpass Bassey’s record with 20 hours.

It is left to be seen if her new record will pass the test of time as Bassey’s.
